Candidate for Vice President
Danielle Hurd, RVT

Candidate Statement

I am a Registered Veterinary Technician who has been working in veterinary medicine since 2015. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including three years in a mixed animal practice, four years in the orthopedic department at the University of Missouri, and my current position in the University of Missouri’s community practice. These roles have given me a broad perspective on the importance of veterinary technicians and the many ways we support patients, clients, and hospital teams.

I have been a member of the Missouri Veterinary Technicians Association since becoming an RVT in 2017. While I have not previously held a position within MOVTA, I am actively involved in leadership and service at the university level. I serve on multiple hospital committees focused on improving hospital operations and staff support. I am also a leader for the annual University of Missouri continuing education event and regularly volunteer for outreach opportunities such as Barktoberfest and the university’s annual open house. Additionally, I supervise MACC veterinary technician students and help prepare them for their clinical experiences.

MOVTA is important to me because it serves as the foundation of our RVT community in Missouri. I believe strong professional connections, mentorship, and advocacy are essential to the growth and success of veterinary technicians. As Vice President, I would focus on supporting technicians, increasing engagement within the organization, and assisting fellow board members in advancing MOVTA’s goals. I am especially passionate about supporting new technicians and students and helping them feel confident, valued, and connected within our profession.
